We've had big boxes delivered before, and S was always a little scared of them. But this time it was different!
First of all we stacked blocks on it...
Then we used it as a table for some serious colouring work...
Then it was used for climbing practice...
Then I finally gave up, and unpacked the vacuum cleaner, thus leaving an empty box.
But the fun was just beginning!
You see, once a box is empty, you can climb inside. And hide.
And then, just when you thought things couldn't get any more exciting, another box arrived. Two boxes! TWO!
The original box appears to be reserved for peekaboo purposes only.
The new box... is being decorated like a stoneage cave.
Since Wednesday, all playing has been done in or next to one of the boxes. Books are read in the box. Cups are stacked in the box. CBeebies is watched leaning slightly out of the box to see if it's worth a view.
I'm fully intending to keep both boxes until they fall apart... and then I'll go out and find another big box for her to play with!
Boxes really are magic! At school we always loved the start of term deliveries for the large boxes. We called in very fancily "deconstructed role play" as the children used he boxes as cars, ships, homes the list is really endless. And I still remember a box turned into a play house by my mum when I was small.
