On Saturday, my sister had volunteered to look after S so that I could go and do some Christmas shopping (and just generally have a break from my fairly stressful existence). My sister is awesome, isn't she? I seriously do not know what I would have done without her these last few weeks.
Any way, I digress.
I knew I would be leaving the house at 8am to catch a train, and that S would be spending the day with my sister. I also knew I would miss S and feel guilty the entire time I wasn't there.
Luckily (ha) S woke up early on Saturday morning. My sister was sleeping downstairs, and since she was doing me a massive favour I didn't want to wake her so early - so we stayed in the bedroom. The very first thing S did was to have a drink of water... which she then spat all over herself. This is her favourite thing to do with a drink. So I had to remove her grobag, her PJs and her vest... and then try and wrestle her into a new set of PJs before she froze.
Turns out my daughter prefers to run around just in her nappy. Who knew.
First of all she played with her belly button (a favourite, I think, because she can see how much it makes me squirm).
Then she held onto the side of the cot and practised her jumping on the bed. She's really good at that one.
Then she experimented with putting one leg over the side of the cot and leaning, and seeing how quickly Mummy could jump up to rescue her from falling into the cot. That one was really fun!
And of course, there was the usual running up and down the hall practising "hiya!" and "bu-bye!" at the door way.
Eventually I got a babygro on her, and we played on the bed for a while.
The most enjoyable part of this was for S to pull the duvet right over her and play a long, drawn-out game of peekaboo, culminating in my finding her and taking a photo (see yesterday's Silent Sunday)
Usually our mornings are a mad panic to get up, showered, dressed, and maybe manage some make up before S's hunger pains get the better of her temper. Although I really would have liked to have some more sleep, it was so nice to just spend time together in the morning, playing and messing about.
