Recipe: Chocolate Easter Nests

I used to make these when I was little; they taste amazing and never last long, but they're super quick and easy to make too!

These are great to make with children because they're so easy and there are no eggs involved, so even the most paranoid parent can happily allow Junior to lick the bowl (saucepan) when finished. Nom!

This recipe makes about 10 or so cakes (depending on how generous you are with your nests!)

Ingredients
100g butter
100g demerara sugar
4 tbsp golden syrup
2 tbsp cocoa
4 or so Shreaded Wheats (the big ones)
Cadbury's Mini Eggs (probably more than one bag, since little fingers will sneak in)

Method
The simplest method in the world!

Fling the butter, sugar, golden syrup and cocoa into a saucepan over a low heat. Stir until it's all melted and well mixed.

Remove from the heat and scrunch in the Shredded Wheat. Mix it in so that it's coated with the chocolate.

Use tea spoons to put the mixture into cake cases.

Once you've put a spoonful or so into a cake case, make a little dent in the middle and place 2 or 3 Mini Eggs in there.

Hey presto, job's a good'un.

But of course, the best part of making chocolate Easter nests is eating them!

  1. Making some of these over the Easter hols. I've always just used melted chocolate. Does it taste nicer with this recipe?
